Why doesn't my gas fridge get cold, or only gets cold in the freezer?

Home > FAQs > RV Refrigerators

Have you checked if the refrigerator works on gas but not 120 volts or 120 volts but not gas? If so, the cooling unit is good, the problem is in the controls.

Here are some other tips for troubleshooting:

  1. Check to make sure the fridge is level
  2. Make sure there is nothing blocking the vents
  3. Check for an ammonia smell inside the fridge. This may indicate a leak. (Obviously, if you use an ammonia based cleaner for the fridge this wouldn't count).
  4. Check for a yellowish stain near the rear of the cooling unit. Indicates leak.

If further assistance is needed, it is probably best to contact a qualified service technician.
