Vapor lock derek 6-3-07
95 ford 460 in a pace arrow.
after driving 60 miles in 90+ degree heat, over a mountain pass on the way down the other side the engine lost power. like it was running out of gas.
the rpm would surge until you gave it lots of fuel to go.
is this a vapor lock symptom.
made the same trip going home in about 80+ degree heat, had no problems.
Re: vapor lock mike e 6-4-07
Most fuel injected systems don't have much trouble with vapor lock cause the fuel in being pushed under pressure from the in tank pump.I think you may be starting to have problems with the fuel pump.Ford has had lots of trouble with those pumps.Around 1995 or 6 they came out with a new design pump.Make sure fuel filter is new and not pluged up.Its going to just get worse as it gets a bit older.Lots of folks just get it changed out to prevent more problems or breakdowns. If you do change the pump only put the new Ford pump in,no after market ones or you may have to change again. The new style pumps work great and last a long time.Good Luck MIKE
