I have just installed a new cap and rotor on my 86 suburban 454 w/hei and replaced spark plugs. It starts right up but runs like crap now--I think i mixed up the ignition wires---now im lost and my truck shakes and rattles. Cap and rotor were installed correctly fired up and ran great---when i changed plugs and wires ---- runs horrible. is there a diagram of HEI AND FIRING ORDER SO I CAN GET BACK ON THE ROAD----THANKS!!!!!!!!

Looking at front of engine, first plug on you right side #1. #2frist plug on your left.#3 second plug back on your right.#4 second plug back on your left.and so forth. To find #1 on compression stroke remove #1 plug, ground the plug wire.with your thumb over #1 plug hole crank engine over till you feel pressure building in # 1 cyl.Your mark on the damper should be close to mark on the timing bracket. Now your rotor should be pointing to the #1 plug wire on the dist. cap. Your firing order should be cast in to the intake manifold.Take note the direction the rotor is turning. Start with # one and work your way around the cap.in the direction the rotor turns.Good Luck MIKE
