Deceleration Valve Bruce Caico 4-27-07
Hi,
I have a 454 on a chevy P30 chassis (1989 Fleetwood Pace Arrow Body). It uses a rochester 4-barrel carb. The engine sputters at the intake as a result of what my mechanic feels is a inoperable "Deceleration Valve" which contols certain vacuum mixes at the carb.

However, we can not find one, and Chevy says its no longer available. The part number is either 17047002 or 14087002. Were can I go to find discontinued parts, when its unlikely that a third party has created a substitute? We're totally unable to use our motorhome, and we just purchased it(the problem was not apparent when we tested it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bruce

Where is this valve located on the engine.I was in the same boat and my dealer had his driver take the old part to the cheve warehouse and they found what I needed.I will look in the 1990 manual a see if i can find exactly its function.Lots of that stuff is only used for emissions, when it stops working it sometimes causes problems. Is this valve connected with 2or3 vacuum lines and some of them go to the carb. Does it sputter all the time or just on deceleration? MIKE
