Assuming the engine mechanicals, the carburation, and ignition components are in good shape, there's little else that can be done except to get rid of as much weight as possible and reduce speed. Wind resistance increases by a factor of four as speed doubles, so you can take that into account. 5-7 mpg is about the norm for a big block anything in an RV, depending on the state of technology of the engine. An increse in mileage of say 10%, would only result in 1/2 mile per gallon gain in mileage, and 10% increase would be hard to achieve.

I get 8 with a 1971 22'Travco 413. Sometimes on a good day, I can get 9.

For what it is worth, I get 7 to 9 mpg. With a toad (300TD wagon) and the genset on, I have had it as low as 6 mpg.

Cold air (night driving seems to help) but no toad results in the 7 to 8 mpg range. I drive at about 60, and my Travie weight is about 18,000#.

I own a 79' foretravel, 33ft. with a dodge 440-3. My mileage when not towing is 8 to 10 mpg. When towing a 16ft. trailer, fully loaded, mileage drops to around 7mpg.
