I desperately need to know the average amount of labor hours involved to replace the engine in my 91 Bounder. It has a Chevy 454 7.4 TBI engine. I have heard many different methods of removal, including thru the windshield. I don't want to be ripped off by the mechanics.

Then take it to mechanics who you trust. These take a long time, depending on whether or not your unit has a drivers door. Or has a solid fiberglass front end. The people you bought it from, the people who designed it, the people who financed it, and the mechanics who do the work don't care how desperate you are. The mechanics are the ones who have invested in several thousand dollars of equipment and have to fight your RV for access without getting grease on your carpet or disturbing Fluffy's bed. Usually RV engines get stripped to the block before it is attempted to remove them. As to time, 25 to 40 hours labor wouldn't be unreasonable, depending on several major factors.
