87 Ford 460 Ken 6-17-01  
After setting up all winter I can't get my Airex motorhome started. It appears it's not getting fuel to the carb. A check at the plug going into the gas tank shows plusing voltage on one pin and nothing on the other two pins. I believe the slow plusing voltage is the gas gauge. All fuses check good and fusable links of the started relay show power going from them. Is there a fuel pump relay? BTW the inertia sw. also checks good
As a side note it has always been hard to start after setting a week or so.

Your carburetted 460 has a close-on-pressure-rise switch mounted on a "Tee" with the oil pressure sending unit at the rear of the engine, just behind the right(passenger's side) cylinder head. The larger, oil pressure sending unit, will have a single wire, the oil pressure switch has two wires. According to the wiring diagram, the oil pressure switch "fires" a relay which, in turn, supplies power to the in-tank pump. You're right, the pulsing voltage is the tank fuel level gauge connection. A very simple thing you can do is get a momentary switch, either a toggle or push-button,( a momentary switch is one that is only "closed" when its being held down or pushed in), and wire it across the two wires of the oil pressure switch. That way, when you go out to start the rig after it's been sitting a long period, you'd turn the key to "run", hold your oil pressure switch by-pass switch "on" for 20-30 seconds to fill the carb, release the switch, and proceed to start the engine without grinding and grinding on the starter.
