I have a 1988 Holiday Rambler with a Chev 454 engine. Over 140000 miles and high oil consumption. I have pulled a lot of engines in my life from a VW beetle to a Mack truck but never a motorhome engine. I have the capability and equipment What I need to know is, is it better to remove it through the front or through the bottom like on certain vans.
When I pulled the motor out of my motorhome, I jacked up the front of the RV and put the engine hoist through the front driver door ( if you have one, you can do this from the front as well) take out the drive shaftand trans crossmember and drop it out the bottom as a unit. I sat the motor on a steel plate and pulled it out from under the RV. I think this is by far the best way other than someons else doing it.
