Help with firing order john 3-20-06  
Hello all im new here. i just got a 1973 dodge lifetime motorhome. im
trying to find out what size engine it has. i thought it was a 440. i
put the plug wires the way a 440 is but when i try to start it pops
thru the carb.the rotor goes counter clock wise any help pleses

Hi John, All the 383,400,440, and 426 hemi have the dist in the front and turn counter.On most they're marked at the dist. base to the front of the engine. Some aren't. If not check the oil pan rail below the starter opening, at the left rear corner of the block or on the left bank tappet rail. Rich

doea any of this mean anything that could help with engine size

Hi, again. Engine serial # lists CID either 2nd,3rd,& 4th digits or 3rd,4th,& 5th depending on year. My book lists VIN code as fifth digit for original engine, but I only have M P T & U Listed for 73, no S. M=400 P=400HP T=440 U=440HP Rich
