Hello Everyone, I'm thinking about buying a 1977 F350 (Ford) motorhome. It has a 460cid with 88,000 miles. The vehicle is in a non-emission compliance state. I would be taking the vehicle to an emission required state. The emission sticker that is usually under the hood is missing. The vehicle does not have a catalitic converter. How do I get a replacement sticker? How do I find out if the vehicle requires a catalitic converter? Any 'good' or 'bad' words about this type of vehicle? I'll be pulling a boat, so MPG isn't important. Thanks in advance for you comments and help, Ray
Hi, Ray, I know Ford didn't change over to unleaded Till 1979 for 3/4 ton pickups and bigger. So there won't be a converter. I don't know about a air control pump and charcoal canister though. I know the 1/2 ton chassis had but I'm not sure about the heavier ones. You should be able to contact the testing stations where you're going and find out what is required to be on. Some states with tests exempt some older chassis as well. Rich
I have a 1977 460 Class C. The only stickers under hood is one for AC and another for radiator fill spec. This home originally came from AZ. I don't have a Cat convertor, don't think it ever had one. I think you will be happy with it, my 460 is a pulling fool,however mine has a Doug Nash (chicago gear) high-low gearbox behing the C6, about 10% different gearing. I pull a boat also, takes 1 1/2 mpg to pull it. Mileage is 7.5 to 10.75 depends on hills and wind. These are low-compression motors, unleaded is okay, don't like more than 10% alcohol.
