ENGINE SQUEAKS sparky 7-29-03
I just bought a used 1999 ford ranger excellent condition-body and engine look like new-first owner took care of truck. The engine squeak I thought it was the belts they look brand new. Is this normal???, If not what could it be??? If the truck-engine is idling or I'm just gliding without stepping on the gas pedal there is no squeak but as soon as I step on the gas peadl the truck squeaks and people can hear me coming from down the street. HELP-SEND E-MAIL TO JPATS101@AOL.COM FOR ANSWER/ADVISE-THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Offhand, it sounds like an exhaust leak near the exhaust manifold.
Re: ENGINE SQUEAKS Gary CC NV 7-30-03
Could be because you just put new belts in it, they seem to stretch kinda quick, and need re-adjusting. Or if they get a few drops of Coolant-Antifreeze on them, that will make them sound bad too. Check the tension, rinse them off with a little bit of water, while its running, water won't hurt any thing, and give that a try. As far as Belt Dressing and such things as that, it just make them slip quiet.

I have a 1998 jeep cherokee clasic.
when i start up and for the first few miles when i excelerate a horrible squeal is heard.
i was told this was due to the high humidity we've been having causing the drive pullies to rust.
