P30 454 External Heat Problems Shannon Heyward 7-12-03
After replacing plug wires, I was stuck in I95 traffic for one hour. Exhaust manifold noise noticed immediately after returning to hiway speed. Had cracked exhaust manifold and plug wires replaced; engine running well. Placed kevlar sleeves on plug wires. Any suggestions for other heat shield fixes to prevent future problems?

Wires with silicone rubber and a spiral core work best.

In slow traffic, an electric puller fan is good. If you have a thermostat controlling it, it will kick in automatically and will run after shut down to prevent heat soak.

And, of course, Thorleys or Bank$ help with eng compartment heat.
