H5D Emissions (454) P-30? Kevin 6-30-03
MY check engine light has started to stay on constantly. It use to come on only after 1-2 hours of running and would reset after restarting engine. All hoses look good, air pumps are funtioning, filter is new. Any experts out there on this system? I have a manual and it does not go into much detail on trouble shooting.

Thanks Kevin

I have noticed that my h5d mufflers have started leaking, where can I find the best deal on a replacement set?

There could be a number of reasons, usuallyl number 1&2 are oxygen sensor, or EGR valve sticking or dirty.
Best is let a shop run a diagnostic and pull out the code.
Could be bad communications in one of the systems

This system has no oxygen sensor(s),and does not have self diagnosis capabilities (codes). Will look at the EGR but it is not hooked into the H5D system. Thanks for trying Bob

The SES (Service Engine Soon) light on your unit has detected a fault in the AIS (Air Injection System), also known as an AIR, (Air Injection Reaction). This is the system composed of the "Smog" pumps, hoses, and associated control vales. Where the air pump flow goes, ( either into the exhaust manifolds, or "dumped" into the air cleaner housing, which serves as a muffler), is determined by the HFEAC, (High Flow Electric Air Control, valve. This valve uses a solenoid in combination with the older diverter valve function in each of the air diverter valves. Since your SES light goes on and off, I'd start by cleaning all the electrical contacts in the system, paying close attention to the ones at the control module and the control relay.

Thanks Sam,
Will try to look at those connections this weekend. I hope that is all that it is and not the main control mudule I understand that it is rather pricey.
