I have a 87 Toyota 4X4 that sat for about 1 and half years. I just put in a ussed engine that I bought from a shop that sells ussed engines. The truck will not start I have checked all the wires and made sure the Distributor is set to tdc
with the rotor pointing to #1 wire on the distributor. I replaced the fuel pump. I am thinking that I need to replace the carberator. But it should at least start and run pourly if something was wrong with the Carberator. the engine is getting spark and I put fuel in the carberator. does anyone have any ideas on what I should check next. Hey check your coil. take a long screwdriver and put it in the #1 plug wire and ground it out while trying to start it. if there is no spark then replace your coil. ignigter. i have had the same problem before. rebuild the carb, it will get gummed up if it has sat a while and will not start unless you use starter fluild.
Did u hear the engine run before you bought it, try spraying some starting fluid in the carb. and see what happens, if nothing, then you may need to re-check your ignition. also, being a toyota, are u sure it doesent have fuel injection?
