Engine overheats Neoma 6-22-03
1982 Apollo Sceptre, disel pusher. When I bought this it had a new engine with only 20,000 2nd owner. I have owned it one month and it's been in the repair shop since. I put 1,000 miles 1st trip and 20 miles short of distination and the engine blew. I put in a new 3208 reman, transmission, and radator. This was done by a cat tech. When a pass the water temp is 210 and the light comes on, the crank case oil temp is 245. Cat doesn't know how to correct this problem. They think it may be a bad design on the coach. Only air loovers are on the drivers side, the passenger side are blocked off by the manf. Has anyone tried to open those for more air? Did this help? Do you own or know of someone I can talk to that owns one of these. The coach is still in mint condition on the inside just having a few major problems.

Hi Neoma I have a 1982 Apollo Sceptre with a 3208 Cat. My pasenger side vent is open, but the bottom of the compartment has plywood over the muffler. Is yours set up this way? I have no engine heating problems (180 to 190),but the trans dose get up to 220 to 250 on a long hill but does not bother the engine temp. If pictuers of my vent would help I could try to post them for you. Good Luck. Den

Your cooling jackets inside the enjine may be cloged, also dont forget to check the thermistat and that the water pump is working properly, Does it loose any water?
