1976 Eldorado engine heat Ann 2-15-03
I have a really stupid question! I have a 1976 Eldorado class C. When I drive it the engine heat seems excessive in the cab. What I mean is the engine is right next to my right foot which is on the gas pedal :) It gets very warm! Is that normal? It's really too hot to be able to drive any distance. Is there any kind of insulation that I can put on the engine covering to help? Thanks!
Re: 1976 Eldorado engine heat bill 2-15-03
Ann there should be a heat shield in there between the cab and exhaust manifold if its not in place your foot will get pretty warm. If you look and don't see a piece off metal usually aluminum between there your going to have to get one in there to keep your feet cool and prevent the carpet from burning/melting from excessive heat. If you have to purchase a heat sheid i'd recomend a salvage yard there's a good chance they have an older van or something similiar to what you would need. good luck

Hi Ann,

I have a 76 Elderado myself i just got mine though, I have a 350 in it with a auto tranny.

Does anyone know how much fuel it should hold and what kind of milage i should expect on road trips?

It does seem to run higher R's when i am doing 60.

any help would be appriciated as i cant find any info on my MH

Gosh, thanks for the quick response! There is an engine cover on it (plastic I guess), I took that off and the inside of it does seem to be lined with metal. Is that what you're referring to? If so, then I still have a problem of my foot getting hot. Can you tell I really have no idea what I'm doing :)
