ENGINE TEMP Dan Mooney 1-12-03
I just purchased a 1994 Bounder 34J on a P Chas with a 454 Chevy. My problem is that someone broke the plug that plugs into the temp sending unit that screws into the head. One wire must go to the gage but I dont know where the other wire goes. Does anyone know? Also is there a test for the temp sender and the gage? I got the gage working but I believe it is reading high. Book says it should run 200 deg ???
Re: ENGINE TEMP Gary CC NV. 1-13-03
Both wires probably plug into the Temp. sending unit. Most late model GM's are like that. One of the poles probably broke off. Some are round type poles, some are Blade type, plug on's. Most factory gages aren't very accurate. In my opinion, Ford's probably have the weirdest reading gauges of them all.If your really want a truer Temp. reading, think about an one of the, Manual Type Gauges, they have always seemed to be the most accurate.
