Need to change Ford ignition switch. How do you get the old one out?

Why do you need to change switch??? I believe all contacts are below switch..follow wiring down steering shaft..should find contacts...switch hard to explain uses shaft conected to switch.

I just did mine... on the sterring wheel post the ing key works a shaft that runs down the post to the back side of the post (by the break petal) mine took a 7/16 wrench to remove it i bought the part from advanced auto parts it's a little tricky to get to and get the plug off.... so take your time and do it early in the morring it gets real hot where i live. this is a job that take pacients to do....good luck mike bush......PS feel free to ask me questions i'm rewiring a El Drado on john deer frame much like oskosh
