Converter/Battery trouble Gene D 4-21-02
I have a Magnetek 6300 Converter/Charger in a '98 Keystone Sprinter trailer. It's primarily connected to shore power. When opening the trailer this season the battery was drained. I waited for 8 hours for the battery to charge on shore power but it never did. I had 12v to everthing but the gas water heater igniter and frig did not work. I charged the battery with my vechicle and re-hooked it to the trailer and everything worked. The next day the battery was drained. I spoke to a mechanic at a camper parts retailer and he said the battery was bad so I replaced it. A few days later the new battery was drained. My feeling is that the charging unit is bad but before I spend any more money Im hopeing to find a way to determine if thats the problem or if something is draining the battery faster than it can charge. Im considering replacing the 6300 with a 7300. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Get a volt meter and check the voltage at the house batt while some fans , DC lights ect (moderate load)ON.

If the volts at the batt are below 12.8 you need a fuse or replacement converter.
