Outside electrical cord kathy brown 7-10-08
I had my outside electrical cord cut in half by a lawn mower. 1st can i fix myself? can i splice wires back together and put connectors on them and will that be safe, or should i just get a whole new cord and run it through the back of the camper? i have a class c motor home. also when we start the camper the lights all come on (on the dash), i know they all go off, but then the brake light come's on and dosen't go off. we were told maybe a sensor. any idea's. thank you

Kathy, don't attempt a repair yourself. The easiest bet is to purchase a new extension cord in the correct size( 20amp, 30amp )and with the correct end cap configuration. Camping World is a good source. Take the cut off end of your old cord with you if you are not sure what to buy. When you get your new cord, open the splice box in your coach where the old cord was connected. Disconnect the old cord, making sure you mark the wires if they are not color coded. Cut off the female end of the new cord, and connect it the same as the original.

Good Luck!
