My dad has a 1987 fleetwood south wind recently he's having charging problems it seems unless the generator is on he can not start it or once he's sarts it and turns off the generator the batt will not charge. he's had the starter, batt, and alternator checked. it has a 454 in it

My 98 Coachmen did the same thing. Check the disconnect (storage) relay. If the contacts are pitted/corroded, you won't get enough juice across it to start the engine or charge the engine battery. Also check to see if it is even closing.
