I have a problem with the Auto Brake on my 1997 Itasca, when I shift it in to reverse it usually cycle the hyd motor to release the auto brake, now it does nothing it seem like it has a blown fuse, any idea which one it is or where it is located?
I had the same problem last year. There was an in-line 10 amp fuse holder under the hood that was corroded. The fuse was not labeled. I just started checking every fuse under the hood and stumbled onto it. Autozone sells the replacement in-line fuse holders. Hope this helps.
I have checked for a fuse under the hood and checked all the fuses in the fuse holder and found nothing blown. Under the hood is a relay and solenoid box the top one I think is the relay and the bottom one a solenoid, there are battery cable running to both sides of the relay and the solenoid and both have 12 volts on them all the time, when you turn the ignition swith on the bottom solenoid (looks like an old Ford Sol)activates but it does not seem to do any thing different there is still 12 volts on both sides of each. The top that I think is the relay has a 5 volt fuse and it is good. It never gets power to either pole in the front that looks like they would activate it. It is a weird looking relay it looks like a solenoid with 2 terminals to activate it, not sure how it is supposed to work, it is like the whole auto brake system is turned off?
The solenoid you are referring to sounds a bit heavy duty for the auto brake motor. You may need to go to the Workhorse website and try to find a wiring schematic for the auto brake. Workhorse took over those systems from General Motors and have all the info.
The dreaded green switch was the problem it did not leak and was full of fluid, it acted like a blown fuse but after tracing the wiring and jumping different component it ended up being an open green switch, $60 at the local Chevy dealer and we are up and running again.
