No brakes ! William 5-24-08
I have a 1999 travel trailer and recently purchased a 03 dodge 2500 to pull it with. I pulled this trailer with another truck for years. The only problem I had was with the brakes sticking a few times. I installed the Tekonsha brake controller from my former truck on the 03 model. I don't seem to have any working brakes the trailer. Everything works on the trailer (lights, etc.)except the brakes. The controller indicates it is working properly but I have no stopping power. Please help !!
Re: No brakes ! wrench 5-25-08
Make sure the brake are properly adjusted, that you got the ground on the right wire, that the brake wire from the truck goes to the brake wire on the trailer & it should work(don't forget that those trailer braking system are braking only in foward motion) If you hot wire the brake(12+ to the brake wire) & it's not braking in foward motion, you may have a magnet in the wheel which is open or a bad connection(corrosion), mostly if the connections are not sealed & you're north of salt belt.
