Engine quitting Bob 2-5-08
I have a 2001 Safari Trek on a P32 Workhorse chassie with a 7.4 liter and a 4L80E transmission. The engine will just quit as I am driving down the highway on a random basis. Lots of parts have been replaced (fuel & air filters, ignition switch, fuel pump, mass air flow sensor) and the problem keeps occuring. I have always been driving for 100+ miles before the problem occurs. Some times it will start right up and run the rest of the day, other times it keeps quitting after running about as long as it was shut down. Could this be a faulty computer problem?

Re: engine quitting BUBBA THE BUS TECH 2-6-08
It is probably heat related. An electronic component gets hot and dies. There are two ways to attack this. Wait untill it quits completly (it will happen soon) or leave the dog house loose and the next time it happens test for spark before it cools enough to restart. hat will be the first step. It could be a bad fuel pump relay, coil or distributor module or main engine computor. By the way have you scaned for codes? The above failures dont produce codes sometimes. Other faults should. I have seen cam sensors and crank sensors both go bad with heat. Good Luck
