Transmission Jim Akridge 2-2-08
I have a 1993 GMC truck 3/4 ton with a
4L80E transmission, to which started shifting hard and then stopped shifting
in seperate gears once it warms up,while cold it shifts fine. I did replace solenoids shift form 1-2, and 2-3,and the TCC one also, new oil and filter and the problem returned. Their
is one more solenoid in the front motor
side like the TCC one across from it,nut I can't find out what it is and if I should replace it ? If the fluid is becoming to hot would this cause the problem I was thinking that maybe it was flowing correctly through the cooler or that it was clogged or something ? I wish they would of kept
the Turbo 400 with overdrive in those trucks. best transmission ever built I believe.

Second problem my brake lights don't light up when I push on the brakes and I have replaced the brake pedal twice and fuss, and tail light bulbs now the tail lights and turning signals work fine. I used a light tester to the brake pedal wire before entering the plate that has the three bulbs and their no power ging to the bulb. I tested the six wires at the padel switch to which one wire lights up when the brake is pushed and the one next to it loses it power when the padel is pushed, the other two stay power up, and the two seperate ones at
the end get no power when pushing the prake or not.
I ran a test lead wire from the wire that lights up when you press on the brake to which does actives the brake light bulbs and the right signal works
while it's press but the left side won't while the brake light is one, once you let up then it starts flashing. I could use help with this too!
Thanks alot Jim

On your brake/signal problem. Have you checked for an open ground or two? I allways forget. But the symptom with the signal light sounds like that may be it. Good Luck

No that is your force motor solenoid it controls the pressure in the transmisison. It's good.
Do a continuity check on the brake switch while activating the pedal. Check for power going into the switch. Verify ground with a test lead by using the lead as a ground and pressing down on the switch.
