I have a 89 ranger with over drive, it shifts all 3 but O.D. can't figure this out what could be the problem. Can anyone help?
Re: 1989 ford ranger rich 12-25-07
1st thing to check is for broken wires or bad brake light switch. Auto trans. lock the torque when in overdrive to get the best MPG. If a signal is coming from the brake light the torque will not lock. In some cases a broken wire will keep it out of overdrive. You wouldn't believe how many overdrive problems we get rid of just by adjusting the travel on the brake light switch.

I have an 89 ranger 4WD AUTO. When I shift into reverse, the fuse for the directional signals and backup lights blows. Where is the backup light switch located, and could it be the problem?
