Problem with the shifter pad touch buttons. When starting from cold (cold weather) it is very hard to select fwd/rev etc as the buttons do not do anything till after 5 mins and it has been warmed up. Is this showing the pad needs replacing, are the control contacts worn out under the gell pads ? any ideas
John
Re: allison 3060 6 speed bill truglio 12-31-07
My Allison 3060 works fine until I come to a stop. It stays in 2nd until it almost completely stops then shifts into 1st with a heavy thump. It never did this before. It's attached to a Cummings C8.3TA

Thanks and Happy Hew year.

Allison made alot of tranny for 18 wheelers with diesel engines to which requires the motor to warm up from 10 min in warmer temp and for 15-20 in cold weather. It is always best to aloud all your vehicles to warm up for
the benefit of the motor and tranny if you want long life wear from them. You shouldn't never start up a vehicle anddrive off 3-5 seconds after it started there reasons why ! On a motor the oil will by pass the filter when it's cold and thick and you don't won't this to happened.
on automatic tranny you want the oil to flow throughout the system very well
before driving or the bands, clutches,et'al' will start shaving off small metal peices and standard transmission you want the oil to be warmed up for the proper lube to all moving parts as well !
You may not have any problem because the owner before you may have aloud the vehicle to warm up proper every time they drove it and by not doing it may be why it's acting up because the vehicle is usely of properly lubercanting itself first !
