HEAT causing NEW 4L60-E to SLIP! Jack 10-1-07
I have just put in a fully rebuilt 4L60-E tranny. When the motor is cold, the transmission operates fine. But as the motor and transmission heat up, it slowly begins to 'slip' in overdrive and also starts to struggle to engage first gear on take off. Once slipping occurs in overdrive, the engine warning light comes on and i loose overdrive all together. Then if i turn the car off and leave it overnight, it operates fine again and the engine warning light is gone! All other gears are unaffected, only 1st gear in takeoff and overdrive are affected. Switching the A/C compressor on also causes the tranny to have further problems shifting gears. My theory is that the tranny oil gets thin as it heats up and leaks past the seals and causes a drop in oil pressure and hence the slipping. I have had the valve body reemed but it made no difference! Have i got a shitty rebuild with faulty seals?? Please help!!!

You have an internal leak problem inside the trans. An experianced rebuilder on this unit could probably tell where from your description. Send it back to the rebuilder is the best advice I can give. Good Luck
