94 p30 454 won't shift don 6-18-06
Hey all: We bought a 94 fleetwood w/ a p30 chassis / 454 and auto trans. It ran fine and shifted great from GA. to Fl. We changed out the exaust manifolds and did other crap and now the trans starts in second and stays in second. You put it in drive and it starts in second gear and never changes. Whats up with this? Any help would be great. Thanks

I just read in one of the other forum questions that they had the same problem and it was a bad connection in the fuse box...CHECK YOUR FUSES!!! Mine was just a bad fuse (dirty)..I cleaned the fuse holder and put in a new fuse and WaLLA!!! So I fixed my own problem...Thanks for the help anyway...This is a great forum

Check all wires and plugs going into and out of the tranny,You must have bumped something while working on the manifolds. Check any vacuum hoses if any are going to tranny. If it was shifting fine I think you hit something. What else did you work on.????I know those manifolds can be a PITA. Check that EGR works properly some of the new ones need a bit of back pressure to work. Some headers won't give much backpressure, just make sure EGR is working ok. MIKE

Bought a 94 Bounder 34J 454 chevy, 120,000 miles. Excellent inside and out. Passenger side exhaust manifold, has a slight blow by...Previos owners log indicated that exhaust maifoolds were replaced twice.
Was sugested by a so called" expert here in rural Ms. to have "headers" installed in place of stock exhaust manifolds. I ordered (from Jegs) what I thought would fit my (p30 chassis setup) and the guys at Midas muffler in Gautier Ms. said that they "WILL NOT FIT" and that I need to send em back and order "Block Huggers"....what do I know?
I contacted Jegs "again" and they said that they may have made a mistake and that I should order "Headman ceramic street rod hugger headers" for BB chevy part no. 500-68516. Now I can only go thru this "one more time"!!!
Midas says they can only evaluate (will they fit) the headers once they arrive.
Anyone out here have a suggestion or an offer of sympathy????
PS...is my Bounder 34J sitting on a p30 chassis???
