Both scenarios are intermittent and occur only when the engine is cold. If we let it warm up for approx. 10 min. The problem does not happen.
I have a 1992 Geo Tracker automatic with 184K miles. When shifting into gear it has difficulty finding the gear. After some playing with the lever it slides in... When beginning to drive with third...Then it pops and goes in... Once this happens there is not further problem when driving.
