This inquiry is about a clutching
and shifting difficulties for a 1992
Ford Ranger pick-up 2-wheel drive 2.3
liter. Basically, when the truck is
cold it clutches and shifts fine, but
when it "warms up" after 3 to 4 miles
it doesn't want to shift in or out of
gear and the clutch pedal feel becomes
almost sluggish feeling. Can someone
with some knowledge about what this may be please let me know? Could it be a slave cylinder problem? The fuid in
the master cylinder is blackish in
color, but there is no noticiable fluid
loss. Bad seal? Please help!

My question is in regards to my clutch. I drive a 2001 Ford Ranger 2.3L 2WD, and the problem is that there is no pressure when I press down on the clutch pedal. I have previously experienced difficulties with the clutch loosing most, but not all pressure. Then, it went back to normal even though I haven't worked on it. Recently, the clutch has no more pressure at all. I can start the truck okay, but cannot shift gears. The clutch fluid is fine, I don't know what the problem is. Please help!
My first Guess would be your clutch master cyl. When its cold the seals around the piston are good enough to alow enough pressure to actuate the slave and as it warms up the seals give out. If you havent had the clutch and hydrolics inspected I would suggest having that done as the throwout bearing and slave are integrated on the Fords and prone to leaks. The black fluid tells me its time to replace the master, slave, and flush the line between the two anyway. since you need to have the trans out to check the slave, inspect the clutch and repair as needed.

I, too, have no clutch pedal. I have bled the system and see no visible leaks and as I look at the release bearing and plate tines I see that nothing is releasing the bearing and to pressure is being put on the pressure plate. before pulling the tranny, what are the odds of it just being the clutch master cyl?
I have the OPPOSITE problem, my clutch doesn't work when I first start my truck and it is cold. I pump the pedal a few times, and then it works fine. Is this a sign of bad things to come?

My clutch pedal goes clear to the floor all of a sudden, and now i can not shift into gear, all i can do to drive is start it in second and pullout like that then jam it into another gear when needed, can you tell me what it may be??????
