1992 Areostar transmission problems Joe Wages 10-24-05
I have a 1992 areostar van, 4.0 liter engine, automatic transmission, about a year ago it would slip teribbly if you left it in overdrive to start off, but if you put it in drive it wouldn't slip at all and when you got to 45mph or so shift into overdrive it worked fine. A week ago it lost drive and overdrive but worked fine in 1st in second, did that a few days now all I have is reverse. I'm green on auto trans but good on strait drives an engines. I read that there is a governor under the tail shaft on these things that clogs up and gives problems. Would it be worth changing that before I pull it out? fluid and filter have been changed with no luck. Any input is greatly appreciated

thanks
Joe Wages
