My 1998 Tahoe started making a whining sound, then sounded like sheet metal flapping. Reverse went out, and 1st,2nd, and drive made noise but not when in overdrive, unless i was free wheeling. I then stopped moving completely and not even park worked. The transfer case seems to be fine. if I'm in drive and rev it up a little and put it into park, it doesnt even seem to click as would be expected. What happened? What do i do to fix it? I am mechanically capable. thanx mike
P.S. I realize this came out with a 4L60E but this is a 4L80E.
Check top of case for crack down middle if it is cracked dont use cell phone in truck again if you did they seem to force a downshift at highway speed then crack case re mr transmission teck help
