First off, what is the engine doing when you say it doesn't start?
What was the engine doing the last time it ran?
How much fuel is in the tank?
How fast is the starter turning the engine?
Do you have a full 12-volts going to the DDEC?
What does the lube oil look like? If it is really ugly black, then everything is most likely okay. If it is chocolate colored, milky colored, or any other color than black you may have a serious internal problem.
Diesel engines are pretty simple--fuel, air, compression. If you don't have all three you don't run. The most common problem is lack of fuel.
With a 2-cycle DD, losing prime is a real possibility. If you have lost prime the lift pump does not have the ability to reprime the pump. Take the filters off. If they are not clear full to the top of the filter, you have lost prime. Since you have opened the pump, you most likely lost prime. You are going to have to go through the priming process before you can start the engine.
