Need Help Fixing Bus Mike 8-23-04
Our ministry has an opportunity to recieve a gift of a Double Decker bus for our children's ministry. But, here is the problem, the bus is in Las Vegas NV and I'm is the St Lous MO area. I don't know how to do the rest of the work and I am looking to pay someone who can pay to finish the job and get it ready for me to drive to St Louis. The bus is more than 90% done with (I have been told) only minor things to be completed.

What kind of repairs need to be done?
Re: Need Help Fixing Bus Mike 8-25-04
The bus requires the following tasks before it can be driven safely on the road the distance you indicated:

• Attach left rear brake chamber and hook up labeled hoses to it insuring clearance to left rear leaf spring;
• Attach last drive line segment that slips on and bolt it to differential, six bolts under bus, this segment was cut to length and balanced;
• Adapt torsion bar located under bus to rear axel and frame;
• Lower bus to ground off blocks, 10-20 ton jack needed;
• Connect diesel engine shut off cable from panel to engine;
• Adapt throttle cable from pedal to engine pump;
• Adapt radiator shell to radiator and front frame and attach hoses to engine.
• Check radiator to engine hose connections and plug any heater outlets, fill radiator with anti-freeze;
• Insure that all lines to transmission cooler and air brake system are secure;
• Assure that air filter is clean;
• Charge battery bank and start engine;
• Back up bus and test brakes;
• Adapt fender and hood assembly to bus
• Wire up light system and test;
• Secure instrument panel and install driver's seat.
• Test drive bus.

This project was stopped four years ago, all materials and tools necessary for completion were there. If you are interested in unit I will check with yardman to ascertain current status and condition of bus/ contents.
Re: Need Help Fixing Bus Mike 8-25-04
I have a 1958 Leyland Double Decker RV bus conversion project. It is located in Las Vegas and must be moved out of current storage location promptly. I have transplanted the entire power train and running gear of an International school bus to the London bus to permit reliable maintenance and use for travel. The interior is 80% converted and the mechanical 90% completed.

Your lucky if your bus is in Las Vegas and still needs some work. The weather is cooled off and it's likley to get done now if the work you need done isn't already completed feel free to send me an e mail or call me at 1-661-297-4581 Rob. I'm a 44yr old heavy union journyman equipment mechanic and I also own some land in Pahrump, NV which is about an hour from Vegas. I am planning to take a month off work and will be there soon. If I can repair your bus while Im there the time off work wont be to tough. Im not the cheapest mechanic in the state however I gaurentee my work to be the best, I'm honest and still reasonable. Far from the most expensive people around as well I'm sure. If you still need some work done contact me so we can talk more and I can give you all my credintials and find out whats needing to be done. Thanks R. Fenton
