Hello; I have just purchased a 1990 Flxible Metro 35-footer, which I plan to convert into a mobile workshop. I have a few AC current appliances that I will be using on the coach (i.e. a window fan, hotplate, drill, etc) and would like to know what type of inverter I must use. I understand that the earlier Grumman 870s were 12v, but the later Metros were 24v. Is this a system that is run off of two separate 12v systems, and if so, can I get away with simply hooking up a 12v inverter to just one battery? Also, what is the ballpark I would spend for an inverter?
I also have a 1990 Flexible bus. I plan on converting it also and using a 5,000 watt Inverter. That will cost me about $500. give or take a few bucks. That is the largest one that I can find so if you decide on a smaller one it will be cheaper. There are two large batteries under the bus they cost about $135 - $150 each, The 12v/24v system has two functions. The 24v system is used on some of the items in the bus, but the 12v system works just like normal. You will need to attach the inverter to just one battery. Good Luck
