Bus Engines Gordon Starr 4-8-02
I'm a new "busnut" and I'm doing alot of research before buying a bus. Of all the engines I see listed, which is the most popular and is best for the highway, the 6V71, 6V92, 8V71, or 8V92?
Thanks!

Eliminate the 6V71-- no power. The 8V71 is okay, but lacks a turbo and is underpowered in the mountains. The 8V92TA is a great powerful engine, but sucks up the fuel (4-5 mpg). My favorite is the Silver 6V92TA @ 350 HP for good power in the flats and has a turbo for the high altitudes while still getting good fuel milage (6-8 mpg, depending on weight and condtions).

Re: Bus Engines DEB FANCOTE 9-12-02
Do you have any Detroit 6V092 Bus Engines(complete). We need a side laying engine for our bus. We have been told the Engine must match with the Vin numbers engine #.
Our Vin number is 1GF4AB2K8AD092657. We need to get this as soon as possible as we are stuck in the city it broke down in and our kids were to be in school.

Please contact me at 812-744-6303 (please leave a message if we do not answer).

thank you.
