Convert to 2 speed rear axle Rick Trebes 1-16-00
I have a 1964 C50 Chevy schoolbus and want to change to a 2 speed rear. Is it possible to change the center section or must the entire rear end be changed?

Is there anyway to convert a half-ton pickup truck? With gas prices what they are and the fact that most pickups only get about 19 mpg, having a higher gear ratio availble would be most helpful.

No expert here but the smallest 2spd
i have seen is for a 1.5 -2 ton truck
They are huge & weigh a lot & you probably wouldn't gain anything. Look for a gear splitter or overdrive. They are expensive unless you can find a used one.
