The 390 is FE family, and 460 is 385 serie, may have hard time finding torque converter plate,tranny housing, match engine mount, fan location (height) if air brake compressor location!!!
And are you sure you got the 390 and not 391?

The engine in my buss is blown. It's a 390 and I found a 76 460 that I think will bolt right in. Doe's anyone know if this will work or not?
It's a 391 and the 460 will not bolt up. I've seen people make homemade adaptor plates. I think I will try. If not I will be looking for a 391 somewhere. Thanks for you input
