There are many websites explaining the use of waste vegetable oil as a fuel in diesel engines, and several people selling the equipment to use it.
In a nutshell, WVO has to be extremely well filtered, and heated to a temperature where it will flow like diesel. An important difference is that the engine needs to be started on regular diesel and it needs to be run on regular diesel to flush it out before turning off the engine to clean out the fuel lines and injectors. WVO needs a separate fuel tank and heated fuel lines.
Bio Diesel is an ester made from vegetable oil which acts and burns virtually the same as commercial diesel oil, but it has a detergent effect on the engine and fuel lines and is why some people add a percentage to their regular diesel tank.
Some people call WVO "greasel". |
