IHC Engines - 7.3L Diesel David 2-22-04
I'm looking into a 72-passenger IHC with a 7.3L Diesel. Does anyone have experience with this engine and how it performs on the road - Thanks

The 7.3L is a great engine in a pick-up or small bus. In a full size bus, it is more than just a little bit on the small size.

It is also usually accompanied most often with an Allison AT500 series transmission, also on the small size for a full size bus.

In order to overcome the lack of HP the gear ratio is usually pretty short legged. Top speed is in the 47-52 MPH range.

Look for a bus with a DT466. Lots more HP, always hooked up to the MT600 series transmission, and a whole bunch more sturdy and reliable.

Good luck.
