Detroit 8.2L governor Anubis 1-19-04
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can explain
EXACTLY how this governor works.

It has a plug with several wires going into it, and a cable going to the throttle area.

Does it limit by RPM, vacuum, throttle position, how?

Thanks in advance,

Anubis

That eng has 2 governors 1 is the eng rpm governor and the other is the black box with the cables
Re: Detroit 8.2L governor wrench 1-21-04
The one I know of, may have 1 or 2 cable from the governor to the cab area, one is the trottle, the other if there is the shut off. Usely the 2 wires are for the shut off selenoid, has to be feed with power for the engine to run.

Hey,

Thanks for the info.

The governor is a Sturdy brand.

The reason that I am asking about the governor at all is that it seems that the last 1/3 of the pedal is dead once I hit a certain RPM.

This means that if I'm going a certain speed, I can floor it, or let off a pretty good distance and there is no acceleration / deceleration difference.

Can the governor be disconnected -- I am having the same issues with my 1984 8.2l. I am also having fuel leak out the weep tube ant speeds over 55. What could cause this? do you know. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks for the help
