Post New Message You could probably do it but I think you would have some real problems with structural integrity going down the road.

While every school bus is a rolling steel cage, the cage is held in place by all of the sheet metal on the inside and on the outside. Removing all of the sheet metal would leave very little to keep the "roll bars" from shifting back and forth and side to side as you travel down the road.

Besides losing all sorts of structural strength, I don't think you would see an appreciable difference in the performance of the bus if you did remove a lot of the steel. Bus perfromance is determined a whole lot more by the "flying brick" aerodynamics than by GVW.

All I can say is if you decide to remove all of the roof and ceiling panels off of your bus, please don't drive anywhere I am going.
