I may just be shooting in the dark here but i know how much of a let down it is for no one to reply. My thought was about taking parts from construction equipment. I don't know how big of a bus you want to make amphibious, but take for example a Bobcat, it's got a gas engine coupled to a decent hydraulic pump which powers everything including there hydrostatic drive system of two different hydralic motors. And i know that most larger bulldozers used a gearbox with two clutches to drivce each side differently, but can never drive both in opposite directions. Maybe this will get you started.
