I have a 1980 Chevy/Carpenter 66 passenger I am converting to an RV. I recently bought a roof mount A/C unit from a motorhome being parted out. Will I need to build some type of frame to help support it between the roof and ceiling? There's a couple of inches gap between the roof and ceiling. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
Yes you should, the cut-out is 14",I(watch to cut between 2 bow) and then make a frame out of wood to fit snug between the roof & ceiling. Shape the upper part of the wooden frame to match the curve of the roof at the front & rear. If you retain the metal ceiling you will need to make the surface flat to accommodate the inside diffuser & trim.

I'm not sure where you could find an a/c new, I got mine off a used motorhome that is being scrapped for parts. I would think most any RV or Motorhome dealer would either have them in stock or could order one. Check around at local junkyards, they might have one.
