CB Antenna Mounting Tullamore 12-30-02
I am thinking about hardwiring a CB radio in my 72 Ward school bus and I was wondering where the normal mounting spot for the antenna is. I would like to have it look nice and even hidden if possible.

I've mounted a few CB antennas on my vehicles and have found that the best location has usually been right in the middle of the roof. That location gives you the best transmission and reception in both forward and behind your vehicle. After mounting your antenna and radio be sure to calibrate your antenna to your radio.

Yes, the best place to mount a cb antenna is the center of your cab roof. You mentioned a bus of some sort so a few feet back from the front edge, and the center from side to side should work fine. Look into Wilson 1,000 / 5,000 magnetic mount antenna's. They might cost a little more but are well worth it. It is ture you need to adjust your antenna to match your radio. You do this with a SWR meter, or the cal function on your CB. See your manual for if you have the option for instruction. I also suggest taking your CB to a CB Shop and having it "power tuned". This takes it from about 4 watts output to about 25 watts of output. They should do this and adjust your atenna for less than $30. Good luck.
