We have a 1990 dolphin. It's our first RV and we love it. It is easy to drive and the features (tanks, etc) are easy to figure out. We got an awesome deal. Less than $20,000 original miles. $7000... So far it's perfect for 2 adults, 2 kids, one 80 pound lab.

Enjoy!

I just returned from the first trip in my '83 dolphin....ontairo canada to south carolina and back, a little over 2000 miles. It was the break-in trip, and my girlfriend and I had a great time. There was a couple things went wrong, but nothing serious considering it's a 22 year old vehicle.....we had to drop a gear to climb the steep hills, but no big deal. If you're considering a dolphin, I'd say go for it....but get one with a standard transmission and a 4 cylinder, the standard gives you more "grunt" on the hills and the 6 cylinder won't give you much more power than the 4, and in my opinion the 4 is a better motor, and easier to service. That's about it, I've only done the one trip in mine so far, but I won't part with it for anything.

I know this is a old thread, but a new post I'll make.

I just purchased a 84 Sunrader, Toyota.

I picked it up in NY Drove it to Atl. Then back up to Hendersonville NC then back to Atl. Ga. and on home to Pensacola Fl. I found it took the 6%grade Mountain at 45mph in 3rd gear.

It likes a speed between 65-70..can do more, but don't want to push it or it might over heat.

it is 4cyl. 4 speed and 18ft. on a R22 engine which I hear is the best don't get the R20 engines. Plenty of parts for the simple R22's.

I just had a blast, I'm usually the one in the left lanes running the slow pokes out of the left fast lane. Road rage queen, but in this knowing I Top out at 70 I just have the relaxing ride of moving right along. Less stress LOL.

Good luck all you Toyota rv'ers

I bought a 83 Toyota dolphin and I can't get it registered because the weight is not written on the title. If anyone has this information Motor vehicle wants both weights. The one that says what it weights now and the other that says what is the total weight loaded. I have it in the shop right now and would like to avoid having to bring it to a truck stop to weight it before I can register the thing. Thanks in advance.
