Broken water pipe in 5th wheel Tom Rogers 5-24-05
H E L P!!!!!

We took our brand new hitchhiker II on its maiden voyage last week. In the middle of the night neighbors heard water running (we didn't) and investigated. They saw water running out of our trailer. I couldn't figure who would be knocking at 2:30 a., until I stepped on the kitchen floor, then I knew why.

One of the 25 cent thumb size hose clamps, under the kitchen sink wasen't tightened at the factory and let loose.

There was 1" of water in the kitchen and living room (just the front edge of the glides were wet).

When we pulled out the next day (after spending the rest of the night wringing out towels) we left a trail of water for a good mile.

The insurance adjustor is supposed to look at it today (5/24. The dealer where we purchased it said if it is dried out quickly enough it is unlikely there will be any damage.

I'm kinda dubious of that. Even though he assured me the underbelly insulation is water proof, my concern is mold and mildew in the insulation. Plus the carpet and pad were as wet as they could get, I don't see how they can dry out unless they are completely removed.

I'd appreciate any and all comments & advice.

Thanks

Tom R
