1990 mci ( Kurt 6-8-06
I just bought a 1990 MCI 9. It was a prison transport bus. I am just wondering where I might go for detailed specifications on this bus - as I understand MCI quit making the MCI 9 in 1987. I guess mine was a special order. I am trying to get the service manual, but am not sure which one will have my bus included.

Contact MCI.

With your VIN# you should be able to get whatever you need from them.

I don't know how your -9 is spe'c'ed but the basic bus will not be any different than any other -9 out there on the road. The power package, the electrical system, the HVAC system, and the running gear will be standard MCI-9.

As far as parts and pieces go, there are several companies that will have the parts and pieces you need at much lower prices than MCI. U.S. Coach in N.J. comes immediately to mind.

Good luck and happy trails.

Kurt,

If in fact the coach you have was built in 1990, and it looks like the MC-9, you may find that what you have is in fact an MC-12. This model was built as a result of a special request by Greyhound. I believe that Greyhound was the only one to receive any of the MC-12 models and I don't know if there are any differences between the two models other than appearance items. From the rear, the taillights of the MC-12 might make one think that they were looking at an "A" model. The "A" was introduced in 1985 and became the official replacement of the MC series of coaches after the last MC-9 was built in 1987. I believe the MC-12 special order was produced up thru 1994 for greyhound. I know Michaud Bus Sales in Brentwood NH (www.busesonline.com)had four of these for sale, and the last I checked two of them were still there.

Good Luck.

Warren
