The existing bathroom is really intended to be dumped every few hours. The MCI ones have fans that must run to prevent odours entering the coach.
They are pretty unlovely rooms -- all utilitarian stainless steel
They are in the wrong place to give a sensible space effective layout.
The luggage racks stick out a loooong way. They slope upward from the wall
What possible use could they be.
Only need half the windows for an RV and many like to have ones that open.
Why some backyard converter (I include myself in that group) thinks he/she can improve on MCI engineering and materials is a big mystery to me. These things were built to last for 30 years and 3 MILLION miles (with appropriate rebuilds and maintenance, of course). I only wish we'd gotten ours before the previous lout had stripped out the seats and bins. And the lavatory is way cool,if you ask me - just install a larger black water tank and a one-way valve.
As for the windows, where are you going to find 5/8" thermopane? And even if you could, at what price? And why bother? They open just fine...and they open "right" - you'll never have to worry about a little rain. Just install a holding arm on the windows you want operable.
So, okay, I'm in a majority of maybe one, but we're RESTORING the bus. I mean, what's with the fiberglass siding and new 'caps' and all that anyway? It's like some people need to invent ways to spend money. It's BUS after all... with beautiful, easy to maintain stainless steel (ours is anyway). Would we ruin an old classic car with cheesy 'conversions?' Same thing, if you ask me. But like I said, it's just my opinion. And I admit to being fond of the retro look.
